The Hwaseong serial killings, Lee Hyung-ho's kidnapping, and murder case and Daegu Sungseo Elementary School Murder Case (Frog Boy Case) are three major unsolved cases in South Korea. Recently, the real culprit behind the Hwaseong serial murder case has been revealed to console the victim's soul. In addition, the remaining two cases were also to be investigated again.

▲ Three major unsolved cases in South Korea.

On March 26, 1991, in Daegu, five children left their house to pick up the salamander eggs at Waryong Mountain. Children who did not go to school because of the temporary holiday were nowhere to be found, and they were last seen by their school friends and villagers living in the nearby villages before climbing Mount Waryong. When the children went missing, their parents wandered around the country giving up their livelihood, making movies and songs about frog boys, and elementary school students across the country have emerged as a national event making a campaign to find the frog friends. Despite the president's special order, a reward of 42 million won, and the largest single case of 350,000 a year, they were not able to find the five boys' whereabouts.

Then, on September 26, 2002, 11 years and six months after the five boys disappeared, four sets of remains and five pairs of shoes were found in the middle of Waryong Mountain

, 500 meters behind the new construction site of Seongsan High School in Yongsan-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu. At that time, police claimed that the children were lost and likely died because of hypothermia, while the forensic team, which was in charge of the autopsy, concluded that the murder was obvious.

The case was highly controversial in the police's poor investigation. In August 1992, police forcibly investigated the settlement of Hansen's disease patients and protested, believing false rumors that Hansen's disease patients kidnapped and killed the five children to cure the disease. In January 1996, Kim Ga-won, a profiler at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, claimed that Kim Jong-sik's father killed his children and buried them at home, causing a stir by arbitrarily excavating Kim's yard and toilet. We must do our best to ease the resentment of the unjustly deceased boys.
