A Volcano Eruption in Hawaii

The national park which is near Hawaii’s Kilauea area was off-limits to visitors due to the fear that the volcano will blow its top soon enough. It was said that it would hurl ash and boulders with the size of refrigerators all over the area.
It was reported by LA Times that the volcano hazards coordinator for the U.S. Geological Survey, Charles Mandeville said that if it goes up, it will come down, you do not want to be underneath anything that weighs 10 tons when it is coming out at 120 mph.
Not only that, it is told that the eruption could also interfere with the planes in one of the big island’s two big airports because it releases steam and toxic sulfurous fumes.
The volcano in Hawaii has been sputtering lava for a week, which made about 1,800 people to evacuate from their homes. Scientists are now warning of the possibility of a violent eruption caused by trapped steam.
Mandeville said that we know that the volcano is capable of doing this, and he said we also know that it is a distinct possibility." As he cited similar volcano eruptions at Kilauea in 1925, 1790 and four other times over the last few thousand years.
After more researches, scientists found out that the magma which is erupting in Hawaii is very similar to the samples from 1955 Hawaii eruption. This means that the magma has been stored since 1955. It explains why the lava has been cool and has been moving a bit slow. Due to the eruption, it has currently destroyed 36 structures (including 26 homes) since May 3rd when it started to release lava from the vents.
There were photos released showing the volcanic eruption.

In the photo, above, it shows a satellite view of Hawaii. The red areas represent vegetation and grayish areas which represent old lava flows.

The second photo shows long streaks of sulfur dioxide which is a colorless gas but carries a foul smell that can irritate people’s skin and mucous membranes.
A volcanologist at the Arizona State University, Kayla Lacovino told NBC News, MACH, in an email that these photos are helpful to scientists, civil authorities, and the public in order to get the full picture of where new lava is flowing and where toxic gases are moving.
Information spread is also helpful to citizens as well since the scientists can predict locations of lavas that are going to be erupted and avoid gas plumes. The citizens can look at the predictions and decide where they will build or buy a new home away from the volcanoes.
