Camping has been popular since the 2000s in South Korea. In 2001, the number of campers was about 600,000, and it became five million in 2016. Nowadays, as a kind of camping, car-bak has grown popular.

Car-bak means staying overnight in a car. In other words, campers drive, sleep, take a rest in their cars. Some people think it is not good, but actually, it has many advantages. First, we can save time and budget. We do not need to go to a camping ground. We can stay and sleep anywhere if there is enough plce to park. Also, we do not need expensive camping tools. The steps for caar camping are much easier than the usual camping. We just need to park on a flat area, set up a bed, and fill the place with music, lights, and decorations.

By interviewing car campers, we can also think that car-bak is very good. Kim Jong-Hun, a car camper, said that he does not have to worry about complicated reservation processes. He also said that with simple camping gear, he can go anywhere whenever he wants to go. A famous car camper Kang Dong-Won said that the best parts of car camping are high mobility and convenience. He said that when he is on a car camping, he can take a rest wherever he likes to stop. If he feels hungry, he can drive to the local's popular dining spots. He also said that car camping is perfect for exploring and spending a night in the wilds.

As there are many good sides, car-bak is increasing its popularity fastly. In 2017, sales for camping gears for car camping seven times increased. On Instagram, there are more than 200,000 posts that shows their cars for camping. Most of them said it is really great because they can feel free can comfortable.
