South Korea has been fully implementing the free semester system since 2016. The purpose of the government is to give students an opportunity to find their future job. In fact, many students research on their dream through this semester. One middle school in Ulsan, Gangnam Middle School, held "My Dream Presentation Contest". The principle of Ulsan Gangnam Middle School said that My Dream Presentation is the platform for students' career choice.
Many students in South Korea are wandering around their own job world. Because of South Korea's harsh education system, many students cannot have enough time to find their job. My Dream Presentation means career research. Each student researches on their own jobs and interests. Students make presentations based on the data that they have researched. The winner gets 50,000 won in prize money, too. Ulsan Gangnam Middle School students developed their passion for dream through this announcement. Other students were motivated, too.
Since this contest, countless students change their perspective about the job world. Gayeun, who participated in My Dream Presentation Contest as a Gangnam Middle School student, said that although Korean students did not have enough time to research on their dream, many students developed the passion for their own interests through this project.
Ulsan Gangnam Middle School's My Dream Presentation Contest was successful. It certainly changed the students' perspective on many jobs in the world. The student council's survey was conducted in the whole school. Surprisingly, 87 percent of the students responded that it was very helpful to find their own job.
Ulsan Gangnam Middle School students researched and found their job through My Dream Presentation Contest. The Ulsan office of education selected Ulsan Gangnam Middle School as a model school. The Korean students' footsteps toward their dreams are still going on.
