"Parasite" made by the Korean film director, Bong Joon-ho, who is popular internationally now, won four awards at the Oscars on February 9th. Bong Joon-ho got amazing awards including awards for best picture and best director. He made a great history with his film, "Parasite".
On February 9th, the awards ceremony for the 92nd Academy Awards was held in Los Angeles, and the Korean film "Parasite", made an unbelievable history there. At the ceremony, there were a lot of actors and directors who are famous all around the world. "Parasite" became the first foreign-language film who won the award for the best picture. Also, it won three other awards in the 92nd Academy Awards which are for best international feature film, best director, and best original screenplay. Moreover, after Delbert Mann's film, "Marty", "Parasite" became the second film ever to win the Palme d'Or and the Oscar for the best picture together.
In his speech, Bong Joon-ho said that he was so happy to be the first recipient under the new name of the award best international feature film. He also said that he applauded and supported the new direction that the change of the award's name symbolizes. Also, he paid tribute to Martin Scorsese, who was also nominated in the best director category for "The Irishman". Bong Joon-ho said that he got lots of inspiration from Martin Scorsese's films. Moreover, he mentioned his wife and actors. He said that he thanked his wife, who always inspired him, and the "Parasite" actors, who beautifully delivered the lines on the screen.
Bong Joon-ho was worried about the difference of culture between South Korea and America, so he tried to make his film for foreign audiences to understand it easily. With his efforts, he won amazing awards eventually. It is unbelievable that a Korean film won such awards at the 92nd Academy Awards, which is an international awards ceremony.
