On September 25 this year, "The School Nurse Files" was released as an original series on the broadcasting service on Netflix. It is a story about Ahn Eun-young, the main character who can see "Jelly," a spiritual existence. It is a story of her growing up by meeting and breaking up with many people while protecting the school from the abnormalities caused by Jelly. As the drama was shown on Netflix, the original novel was also a hit.
Recently, more and more novels, dramas, and movies featuring female characters are being produced. A narrative in which a story is based on a female character is called a "female narrative." With the spread of feminism, women's stories have become more focused on various kinds of creations than before, and the number of feminist messages in their works has increased. For example, "Boss Go" in the webtoon "Jeongnyeon" which was decided to be dramatized, is ignored by men for being women and then performs male roles in suits.
Women's narration works break the mold of existing male-centered works with their methods and expressions. Women who are suffering from stereotypes can gain the courage that they do not have to live as what others want. However, some radical feminists are obsessing too much about female scriptures. They are increasingly censoring some scenes or characters according to their standards without properly detecting the intentions of female scriptures.
Women's narratives can have a positive impact on stereotyped women, but they can also be subject to questions depending on who accepts them. As the number of female narrative works increases, the fact that more diverse and unique stories of women can be seen than in the past remains unchanged. A growing number of people are hoping that Korean women will find their own colors by meeting women of various colors through their works.
