Is there a person who does not know what a doctor is? Probably, there is not. It is because this job, a doctor, is one of the essential jobs for all people. A doctor finds the cause of diseases, cures patients, and finally makes them return to their daily life.

Are you not curious about a doctor's work in detail? Actually, a doctor's work is so many and various. Some doctors may do surgery, and other doctors may cure patients with medicines. Like this, what they do depends on their departments. In representative, we can explain their work by sorting them into surgeons and physicians. Mostly, surgeons cure people through the operation. They examine a patient, judge a patient's condition, and decide the surgery. Contrariwise, physicians cure people with medicine. They diagnose a patient's disease and prescribe a medicine.

Then, how to be a doctor? All the departments mostly follow some steady routes in South Korea. The most representative way is to enter a college of medicine. The people who want to be a doctor can study a premedical course for two years, and a regular course for four years. Then, they can apply for Korean Medical Licensing Examination. If they pass this test, they can get a qualification as a doctor. However, this is not the end if they want to be a specialist. They have to go through more processes. They must study more in a hospital as an intern for one year and for four years as a resident. After finishing all these processes, they can eventually have a qualification for the last examination, the test of specialists. If they pass it, they can finally be a specialist.

Lastly, there are some things that a doctor should have. The first one is a strong sense of duty since a doctor has to decide on treatment or surgery. The second one is sincerity and also a careful concern. The last one is a sense of responsibility because doctors have to cure the person.
