Most people in South Korea listen to K-pop every day. Although many people listen to K-pop, they do not realize much about the effects which K-pop brings to us. With K-pop getting globalized, people from all over the world listen to it and learn about South Korea's culture these days.
To start with, what is K-pop? K-pop is a genre of popular music originating in South Korea. It is influenced by styles and genres from around the world. Then, how did K-pop become popular these days? It is because it has an addictive melody. Plus, many Korean artists made K-pop be globalized such as PSY, BTS, and many more. They did proper marketing and promotion. In fact, K-pop has made our culture globalized. Many K-pop idols inform our culture. For example, they wore modernized hanbok in their music videos and stages.
There are many advantages of K-pop. First, others get to know the country, South Korea. In fact many foreigners want to learn Korean (Hanguel) for them to be able to understand and sing K-pop. Following this step, they get interested in South Korea, and they want to visit it. Some foreigners study Korean history. There are even people who have tattoos with Hanguel. There are some other kinds of advantages, too. One of them is that people in other countries have changed their perspectives on our country.
If there are some advantages, there are disadvantages, too. There are some countries that claim that Korea's culture is theirs. For instance, some say 'Golyeo' stole it from their country. Others say Korean ancestors wore only white clothes. Those insistences are not true. To solve this problem, we need to let people from other countries know that our culture belongs to us, and we should cherish our culture.
In conclusion, we need to promote our culture more through K-pop. Our culture is good enough and worth promoting. We should be proud of our culture.
