Nowadays, more than half of South Koreans suffer from insomnia, which is a symptom that someone cannot sleep well in the evening. According to a survey result (OECD Time Use Database), South Koreans spend seven hours and 49 minutes sleeping, while other OECD countries' people recorded eight hours and 22 minutes. It is so clear that South Koreans need more time to sleep. Not only the length of sleep but also the quality of sleep are important. Moreover, insomnia usually appears by some factors, which makes the quality of sleep decrease.
To start with, factors of insomnia are known as using a smartphone late at night or midnight until falling asleep, taking too much caffeine or drug, stress, and concern, and irregular sleep habit. Especially, most South Koreans seem to experience Insomnia more than other nations. It is because South Koreans tend to spend their time in the evening until midnight, and this habit makes them suffer from insomnia regularly. Moreover, the growing large supply of mobile devices and the Internet makes us spend a little time sleeping. Moreover, spending more time at home due to COVID-19 makes people hard to sleep without their smartphones and the Internet. Surprisingly, insomnia can lead to depression, anxiety syndrome, and hair loss. Therefore, it is important to prevent it before it gets worse on the grounds of complications of insomnia.
To cure insomnia, it is important to go to a hospital and take some sleeping pills, and it is effective to take a warm shower two hours before going to bed. Moreover, drinking some hot milk or water helps us to sleep well. Lastly, changing sleep environment or making a comfortable sleep environment is helpful to insomnia.
To sum up, it is true that lots of South Koreans still suffer from insomnia, and insomnia is caused by many factors. Insomnia can also lead to complications which are defined as depression and anxiety syndrome. Therefore, it is important to prevent insomnia and try to have a good sleep.
