Jung Eun-kyeong has been the director of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency since September of 2020. Jung Eun-kyeong started her profession as a doctor in 1994 after she graduated the university. Then, now, since November of 2019, she has been trying to overcome COVID-19 as the head of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In the early 2000s, Jung Eun-kyeong solved the outbreak of measles with her colleagues, establishing vaccination guidelines. In 2006, she improved the blood management system as the head of the Blood Organ Team of the National Institute of Health because of Aids; Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. In 2009, she dealt with novel influenza as the director of Disease Policy. Also, in 2014, she made an effort to take action with MERS; Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. Now, she is trying to deal with COVID-19, a globally serious problem.
Jung Eun-kyeong has had a credit of endeavor preventing the spread of COVID-19 in South Korea. After the internal occurrence of chronic, the confirmed case of COVID-19, she has been progressing briefings every day at 2 p.m. as the head of the Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters. Although all of the nations know that Jung Eun-kyeong is the front person of the prevention of COVID-19 in South Korea, she always has been modest and stayed composure. She got vaccinated earlier to reassure people who are concerned about the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine, too.
So, with all professionals around the world paying attention to Korean prevention of COVID-19, on March 21st in 2020, the Bloomberg newspaper of United States gave Jung Eun-kyeong the nickname, "Virus Hunter." The former chief of the United States' FDA, Scott Gottlieb, praised the ability of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with the direction of Jung Eun-kyeong, too. She was also selected by Time as one of the 100 most influential people in 2020 and by BBC 100 Women 2020. Especially, Jung Eun-kyeong is the only person in South Korea who was selected by BBC 100 Women 2020.
At this very moment right now, many of medical teams and people of The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency are making diverse efforts to solve COVID-19. So, it is most important to keep the prevention of COVID-19 and follow the guidelines continuously.
