While many people look forward to their summer vacation, some holiday trips just become luxurious for young Korean job seekers. Since vacation just means a period ‘only’ without lessons to some job seekers, 54% of them say they do not look forward to having summer holidays. 42% of them who do not wait for holiday
answered that they should prepare to get a job and have too much study pressure.
In the same manner, according to the poll of 566 job seekers by online portal, Saramin, 43% said they do not plan to go on trip this summer. They asked why, and 57% said that they have too much angst. Half of the answerers said they have shortage of money, and 43% of them answered they should prepare to get a job on holidays.
However, it do not mean that job seekers chose to give up their holidays. 72% of participants answered they would go on a trip if they have a job. 78% of them also said they feel relative deprivation when they see their friends go on a vacation. Then 67% of them have answered they desperately wish to have holidays, but reality stops them.
Not dreaming summer vacation is just a part of harsh lives of Korean job seekers. While percentage of employment is getting lower and lower every year and more and more Korean job seekers speak out their unhappy and unfair job searching lives, the need of welfare for them seems apparent.
