Kim Gu was born in 1876 in Hwanghae Province. When he became 17 years old. he was appointed as the district leader of Palbong. After that, Emmy affair occurred, and Kim returned to his hometown. After killing a Japanese man, which he believed was involved in the assassination the queen, he was imprisoned for the crime, and the death penalty was confirmed. Just before the death row, his execution was canceled, but he escaped from prison when he was not released.

By the Eulsa Treaty in 1905, Kim Gu joined a mass protest against the treaty in Seoul. However, he was an accomplice of An An Myung-geun. He was then sentenced to 17 years in connection with a murder of
However, in July 1914, he was sentenced to two years in prison. Immediately, after the March 1st Movement, Japanese troops who arrested independence activists fled to Shanghai.
The Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea was established in Shanghai, and he became the first chief of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea.
In 1923, Kim Gu was appointed as the Secretary of State. In 1924, he was appointed Prime Minister. In 1926, he was appointed to the Office of the President of the Provisional Government.
In 1931, the Korean patriotic group was organized to encourage young independence activists to fight against Japan. Yoon Bong-gil, a member of the Korean patriotic team, killed several Japanese dignitaries in Shanghai.

In 1933, he organized Korea's Kwangbok army, appointed Lee Bum-seok as Chief of the Commander of the Chiechuncheon, organized the anti-Japanese armed forces, and declared war against Japan in the name of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea in 1941.
During the military exercises for the restoration of the Korean peninsula in 1945, Japan surrendered and came to an end in August.
On December 28, 1945, at the 3rd Moscow meeting, it was opposed to the trusteeship and only aimed at the independence of the Republic of Korea. In 1948, when North Korea rejected the joint election, only the election of South Korea, which is an electoral district, was decided. Then, the government of the Republic of Korea was established, and Rhee was appointed as the first president. After that, he continued to work for the peaceful reunification of Korea and met with Kim Il Sung for a talk.
However, on June 26, 1949, Kim was assassinated by the army so-called Aduhui at his home academy in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.
Mr. Kim is a person who I admire personally because he fought for the independence of the Republic of Korea. So, he deserves to be called the father of national independence.
