Mobile payment is one of the payment methods that replace credit cards or debit cards with a mobile phone. It was first introduced by Samsung Pay in 2015. Then, now, it has an enormous influence in both offline and online realm.
To start with, the principle of the mobile payment is by applying Samsung Electronics mobile payment service and magnetic secure MST technology, if we just place our smartphone near a magnetic credit card reader, the payment comes true through the transaction between devices. As it supports not only MST technology but also NFC technology, its efficiency is far high, and it uses a fingerprint verification to strengthen security. So, we can use it without a doubt.
Before mobile payment's introduction, people had to bring their own wallet, and when they were about to pay services or goods, they tended to feel inconvenient from taking their card or money out of their wallet. However, this mobile payment service because of its usability, almost one-third of Korea's smartphone users are expected to use their phones to pay for products or services.
On top of that, mobile payment's influence is making a lot of competitive companies such as N Pay, which is operated by Naver, and Kakao Pay, which is provided by KaKao. These companies are growing gradually. For instance, in Kakao, they plan to extend their presence to begin the offline realm by introducing a new payment system where users can use QR codes and barcodes generated on their smartphones to make payments at offline stores. This development in sophisticated technology makes people's life more convenient. Then, those companies will grow more and more until we will use mobile payment universally.
