May 31st was World No Tobacco Day. Everybody knows that tobacco is bad for you health, so how does using tobacco effects one's health, and how many people smoke? Meeting
World No Tobacco Day, I want to talk about two points that World Health Organization has announced about. Two points are did the percentage of people smoking reduced, and How does using tobacco effects one's health.- The Reduction of percentage using tobacco
So the percentage of people smoking reduced. Seeing at people more than 15 years old, in 2000, 27% of people smoked, but in 2016, 20% of people smoke. The percentage of people smoking in male also reduced about 9%, and percentage of people smoking in female reduced about 6%. But World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that people will not achieve their goal of reducing smoking population 30%. As the current situation continues, only 22% of smoking population will be reduced. Another interesting facts about reduction of smoking population is that smoking reduction of developed countries are bigger than developing countries. The reason for this is because of the resistance of smoking companies in developing countries. To achieve goals that WHO targeted, more people needs to quit using tobacco.
- How using tobacco effects human health
World Health Organization stated that there are too little awareness of tobacco's impact on human health. The chief of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that most people
know that using tobacco causes cancer and lung disease, but they don't recognize that using tobacco ca
uses heart diseases and strokes. He added that, "Tobacco doesn't just cause cancer. It quite literally breaks hearts. Tobacco contains more than seven thousands of chemicals, including tar, other chemicals that narrows arteries and damage blood vessels, and nicotine, which associates with higher rates of cholesterol and
blood pressure. In many countries, there is very low awareness that smoking can develop cardiovascular diseases. For instance, in China, 60% of people are unaware that smoking can cause heart attack. Douglas Bettcher, who heads WHO's non-communicable disease prevention unit, said that
Government has the power to protect their citizens from cardiovascular disease that smoking causes.
The world should pay attention to how bad smoking tobacco is and how using tobacco can cause serious diseases and health problems. The population of people smoking is getting reduced, but many people do not know that smoking causes cardiovascular diseases. More and more people should quit smoking.
