Marvel released the new movie, Endgame, which is the last movie of the Avengers series. It was released on April 24 in Korea. This title reminded some of the Marvel fans in Korea about the translation issues for the last Avengers movie, Infinity War. Ji-hoon Park, who was the translator for Infinity War, mistranslated and one of his mistakes was Doctor Strange’s line, “We’re in the endgame now,” which he translated as “We have no hope.” Because of that, the movie’s title, Endgame rang a bell with many fans. Because Endgame is the last movie of the Infinity saga, it has drawn a lot of attention. In the box office, it has already passed $2.5 billion, and the highest-grossing movie is Avatar, sitting at $2.7 billion. There are some people saying that it might take first place in the rankings.
Endgame is over 3 hours long. There is almost every character in the MCU(Marvel Cinematic Universe) like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers members, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Spiderman, Captain Marvel, and others. It mainly shows how things were after Thanos killed half of the universe and how the members got through this. During that, Ant-Man suggests that they go back in time using the quantum realm and undo what Thanos did. Those who survived Thanos travel back in time to collect the infinity stones. While they are doing this, Natasha sacrificed herself to get the soul stone instead of Barton, aka Hawkeye. Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, meets Peggy in the past and Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, meets his father. After a lot of accidents, they collect all the stones, but Nebula has been switched with her past self and Thanos and his army come to the present time. When it seems like there is no hope, those who were killed by Thanos comes back and they all join the fight. After some fighting, Iron Man sacrifices himself and kills Thanos and his army, just like he did to the half of the universe. When Captain America is sent to return the infinity stones, he doesn’t come back. The movie shows us that he decided to stay in the past with Peggy. He appoints Falcon as the next Captain America by giving him the shield.
It was very epic and sad at the same time. Everything was huge and it was great to see the past events while knowing what happens and what changed. It was great that we could see a Marvel reunion, which was fun and fantastic. But it was very sad to see some of the characters die and to think that there could be no more Gamora and Quill moments, since to Gamora, he and she never met. Most of all, I have to say I was very sad to see Iron Man and Natasha’s deaths. It sad and touching at the same time. There were deaths, sadness, family, heroic, friendship, and epic scenes. It makes me wonder what Marvel will do next.
Marvel is a popular studio that makes comics, TV shows, and movies. Though it’s famous for the movies, there are many dramas, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Runaways. The Marvel movies also include Ironman, Spiderman, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Captain America, and the Avengers.
